Mission Statement
To proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to embody God’s love through worship, pastoral care, and service. We are called to be a welcoming community that nurtures faith, supports families, and serves all people in the spirit of the United Church of Canada.
The Pillars of Our Mission
Three foundational commitments shape everything we do as a congregation.
Worship
Regular Sunday services and seasonal celebrations that inspire and unite our congregation in prayer, music, and scripture. Worship is the heartbeat of our community — the place where we encounter God and one another.
Pastoral Care
Supporting individuals and families through life’s joys and sorrows with compassion, confidentiality, and grace. Our pastoral team is present in moments of celebration, challenge, grief, and transition.
Community Service
Actively engaging with the needs of New-Wes-Valley through outreach programs, partnership with local organizations, and a steadfast commitment to justice, equity, and the dignity of every person.
Our Calling
Rooted in the Social Gospel tradition of the United Church of Canada, the Wesleyville Valleyfield Pastoral Charge is committed to justice, equity, and the dignity of every person. Our mission reaches across the eight communities we serve — from Wesleyville to Valleyfield — to ensure that no one walks alone in faith or in life.
We believe that the church is not a building but a people: a people called to reflect the compassion of Christ in their daily lives, their neighbourhoods, and their relationships. Every act of kindness, every prayer shared, and every hand extended in welcome is an expression of our mission in action.
As part of the United Church of Canada, we embrace a theology that is open, affirming, and engaged with the world around us. We honour the rich Methodist heritage that has shaped these coastal communities since 1874, and we look with hope toward the future that God is calling us to build together.
Whether you are joining us for the first time or have worshipped with us for decades, you are a vital part of this mission. We invite you to explore, to question, to belong, and to serve alongside us.
A Scripture That Guides Us
“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”— Micah 6:8 (New International Version)
This verse has anchored United Church of Canada congregations for generations. It calls us beyond words into action — to justice, mercy, and humility before God and neighbour.
